We had some problems with the reservation, maybe due to the short notice. Also we didn t get the right price at first. But we did get paid back later on. , May 31, 2008 by Annette Visit Date:May 1, 2008 "We stayed one week at the South Sea Karon Resort. This was our second stay and I don t think we will go back. The hotel is getting old and tired. The new staff weren t very friendly. The pool was NOT clean and my daugther got a serious rash after just a few hours in the water. The hotel is now under a much renovation - maybe this will change the situation. [R24 integr.ERR:escaping]" |
Great, easy and simple to use. All bookings ran very smoothly will use again!, December 3, 2007 by Prue Jevtic Visit Date:November 26, 2007 "Probably the worst hotel I have ever been into! We arrived at the reception and the staff were very un-friendly then they took us to our room which was a deluxe room, it stunk and the air conditioner had a mouldly smell to it. You could not undo the balcony door as it also smelt out their too. The bathroom was old and dark and when you turned the shower on the water came out brown. Because of this we did a room upgrade to the executive suite which was better but the staff did not improve the entire time. Breakfast was also a let down in this hotel. I would not recommend this hotel. [R24 integr.ERR:escaping]" |

The staff were all extremely helpful and nothing was too much trouble. All facilities and services were excellent" |
When I go to Thailand next time, I will use Sawadee.com. I had no problems at all. Everything went according to plan. The places we stayed at were just as they described. Thanks Sawadee.com :-), June 11, 2007 by William James Wells Visit Date:February 4, 2007 "South Sea Karon Resort:My wife and I travelled to Phuket for our honeymoon. We stayed in a Twin Deluxe Room between 04/02/2007 & 09/02/2007. Check in was quick & easy even though we turned up at about 11:30pm and their was only one person at the front desk. We were shown to our rooms without waiting and our bags were carried to the room. The room we stayed in was right next to the pool on the bottom floor. The beds were slightly hard but comfy and there was a mosquito net hanging up around the bed. We had a small balcony with wooden seats but no view! Our balcony along with most balconies on the bottom and top levels are facing a small garden which the staff seem to walk up and down day and night which worried us enough to keep our door closed and blinds shut. There is a massive ugly green wooden fence that the balcony faces which hides a popular restaurant next door - it doesn’t however block the karaoke and music that can be heard almost every night. This wasn’t a problem as we were out late most nights. The TV had many channels to choose from, there was an in-room safe which we used and it stopped working after a day so we had to get the staff to crack the code to get into it. We had robes and all the other things you would expect from a resort . There was no ironing board or iron though. The bathroom was large enough but the shower was a hand-held hose type that fits onto a wall fitting and acts as a normal shower head. There was a bath tub which you had to stand in to take a shower. Water temperature was hard to get just right as it was constantly going from cold to hot. Our roof also had a leak above shower, so as we showered and washed our hair, we got dirty drops of water on our head. It went from drops to a trickle – on and off really but we didn’t complain because we plugged it with toilet paper and managed to stop it in between showering. Our mini bar was stocked with drinks and snacks which were extremely over priced. The room has a desk & chair to sit at if need be. There was also a comfy indoor lounge chair / deck chair. The entire room was tiled which helped keep the room cool. Air conditioning was ice cold and powerful. The front door didn’t close properly and looked like it was bent out of shape and the bathroom door was the same. The buffet breakfast was awesome with plenty to choose from and it always filled us up ready for a big day of exploring. The resort is right across from the beach although you have to cross a busy road which you get used to after dodging cars, buses and tuk-tuks for a few days. If you choose to have a swim at the pool, make sure you get there at a good time because most people seem to hog the sun lounges all day. The pool also closes at about 8pm which was a real shame considering it was hot at night. Speaking of swimming, the beach is great although apparently the water has sea lice in it which we could feel nipping at us. We got used to it after a couple of days too. You must also pay 100Baht each to sit on the sun chairs on the beach and you may be harassed by the ladies offering beach-side massages. Look out for a lady called “Moonah” – she will harass you until you give in, although we managed to dodge her each and every time (not everyone wants a bloody massage)! If you decide to have a drink at the pool bar, beware as a small Chang beer cost me 100baht and the staff serving me weren’t very friendly at all! The resort has its own 3 computer internet café which is also a rip off. Your best bet is to walk up the road to a proper internet café and pay 1baht per minute! Checkout was quick & easy and transport to the next resort was outside the front door which a nice army cadet arranged. All in all I would recommend this place to anyone looking for reasonable luxury accommodation, although it was overpriced now that I think of it. I am sure there are better places to stay at in Karon in regards to price vs quality. Shop around, but believe me, there are much worse places to stay at that this resort! I give it a 7/10! [R24 integr.ERR:escaping]" |
